What kind of resin did they use on the 1900's in the mid 90's? Vinylester or polyester?

Now I see why boat dealers don’t want to make smaller boats. They spend the same time making as same as a large boat that has larger margarine.

I have a 1700 sportsman with a 40hp tahasu. Easy in gas. Still gets me out to the Light tower and back on a decent day.

I purchased a key west 203 fs. Turned on the live well and the bilge pump kicked on pumping water out of the boat. HHHHmmmm did they get something mixed up. I looked around and saw they did not attach the live well hose to the live well so it was filling the bilge. I corrected the issue and attached the hose. I would go out and the bilge pump would start occasionally running. we reported the problem to key west and coty marine. They didn't see a problem and said it was rain water finding its way to the bilge while running. This occurred several more times. We brought the boat to a sand bar and nosed up to the bar. A gentleman with a bayliner called me back to my boat and said that my bilge has been running nonstop. We put the boat into the dip and it was loaded with water to the point the potty was floating and our feet where getting wet. Apparently they didn't attach the deck drain hoses to the cap side when they installed the cap. There is no access to the hoses so it had to go back to keywest to address the issues. We missed two boating seasons (we are in ne so no winter season). we where not offered a new boat, a lender boat not even an extension on the warranty. since this we have had electric problems from the connections being submerged. Key west would not honor waranty because they said its the electronics mfg. and Yamaha responsibility. Yamaha said keywest installed the outboard wrong with some kind of extension for the wires so they would not cover the warranty work either. So buying a boat I would suggest a survey to be done. Bilge access to all components, and seacocks at all connections underwater. As far as I know kw and pioneer do not have seacocks. Past that Our boat sits low port side about 3 inches. I guess there guy fell asleep behind the chopper gun. So really check the level of a boat in the water. There are much better boats from semi custom builders that will be a much better choice for a few extra bucks.

I have a 1998 17ft key largo with the original Yamaha 50hp it came with.. I live on the chesapeake bay. Use my little boat 4-5 days a week all summesummer ongoing long.. these are great little boats for the water sportsmen

I feel like if you do get water intrusion the boats trashed and you have no idea your foam is water logged and deteriorating!

My 97 1900 DC is still going strong. Only issue was wiring, after 25 years Its to be expected. She is on her 3rd motor, a Suzuki 140A.

For those of you shitting on chop guns, how do you think they make chopped strand mat? Literally a chop gun spraying on a conveyor belt with no resin or catalyst just a binder so it doesn't fall apart. That being said, I've never used one in a mould but theoretically it's the same as mat. Your outside layer(s) in a hull is(are) always mat. Manufacturers all have different "recipies" of how often you add layers of mat, woven, cloth, or sometimes (rarely) biax. The only time I see chop guns used are on large surfaces such as a plywood bulkheads where you need glass for water protection but you don't need strength because the structure is already solid

The pride is obvious. Learned a good deal about boat building. I would certainly consider a Key West boat.

The fact that, you the owner chose to do this video yourself, proves to me you are 100 percent sure of the products you produce and are very proud of your boats. I do not know whether or not I will be able to afford a brand New boat of yours, but I guarantee my next boat will be a Key West..
